Building Addition Q&A

Q: What are we adding on?

A: We are adding four more classrooms (two unfinished for now), office space, locker rooms, and a gymnasium.

Q: Why are we adding on?

A: The gymnasium will be used to provide a space for the children when the weather doesn’t allow them to go outside. It may also be used for “before/after school” programs in the future. One of the classrooms will be used to expand our child care center (giving us four total child care rooms). Another will be used for a Kindergarten. The use of the other two unfinished rooms is yet to be determined. They could be used for more child care, an additional Kindergarten room, or the beginning of an elementary school (room for grades 1-4, with two grades/room). This is actually Phase II (with the current child care center being Phase I) of a three-phase program adopted back in 1999 (with Phase III to be a new church sanctuary).

Q: When will construction start?

A: Construction is scheduled to begin in late February or early March.

Q: Will we be taking infants?

A: Sorry, but the extra child care room will be used to help transition children between rooms.

Q: Will the Kindergarten be up and running by the fall of 2009?

A: We hope so, but we’ll have to see if the weather cooperates during construction. We hope to have a definite decision by March 1.

Q: Will the Kindergarten be all-day?

A: Yes, it will be.

Q: What will the teacher/student ratio be?

A: For the new child care room, it will be 1:7. The Kindergarten will be 1:14.

Q: What will the cost per student be for the Kindergarten?

A: Currently we’re looking at an annual tuition of approximately $3000-3500 per student.

Q: Will the Kindergarten be Christian-based?

A: Yes, it will be.

Q: With the new gym, will there be a “before/after” school program? Summer programs?

A: We hope so. We’ll be studying these possibilities more down the road, but we have every intention of having some kind of programs in place as soon as possible, particularly for ages 1-9.
